Antique Essex Crystal Jack Russell Stick Pin 15ct Gold

Antique Essex crystal stick pin with Jack Russell dog 15ct gold with original antique box, circa 1900.

This highly collectable pin displays a Jack Russell terrier dog which appears three-dimensional inside a crystal glass dome. The dog has been carved into the back of a cabochon rock crystal by an expert artist and then painted in minute detail with fine paintbrushes. It is very well executed and wears a collar with a gold name tag. When viewed from the front it seems to float, in three dimensions, inside the crystal. The back of the crystal is sealed with mother of pearl before setting into the gold circular mount.

These stunning reverse intaglio crystal or Essex crystal pins are becoming very rare to find at such nice quality. Like many similar items of the period the piece is not stamped however, we electronically tested it and confirm 15ct gold setting and the pin is 9ct.
