Antique Gold Horseshoe Brooch 15ct Gold Circa 1900
A Victorian horseshoe brooch crafted in 15ct yellow gold circa 1900
This brooch displays three circular platforms with centre horseshoe and two stylised flowers. There is further applied polished gold decorative scrollwork on the lower part. The polished intricate gold work is contrasted against a matt base. The edges of the brooch are set with gold balls that are a typical feature in Victorian and Edwardian jewellery. The gold pin slots neatly into a C type catch. I have added an extra 9ct gold safety chain with a clip. The lucky horseshoe was a popular subject in Victorian jewellery and was thought to protect against evil.
The brooch is presented in extremely good order considering its age. The gold is clean and shows very little sign of wear.
