This antique sweetheart brooch features a finely modelled Markhor, the distinctive spiral-horned wild goat used as the emblem of the 10th Gurkha Rifles. Set with rose-cut diamonds and a cabochon ruby eye, the Markhor stands on a rope-textured base and wears a small gold collar, a detail often seen in privately purchased regimental jewellery. Crafted in a combination of 15ct yellow gold, platinum and 9ct gold fittings, it is a rare and collectable piece of late Victorian–Edwardian military jewellery with beautiful character and craftsmanship.
The brooch can be worn as a classic bar brooch, tie pin or lapel accent, making it suitable for both men and women. A unique heirloom-quality piece for collectors of antique animal jewellery or British military history.
